For many decades chlorine gas has been the predominant
chemical for the disinfection of water.
The most economic
disinfectant is available as gaseous or liquid chlorine
supplied in cylinders or ton containers. Using a remote
vacuum operated gas feeder a chlorine solution is prepared
on site from chlorine gas and water. This solution is
used as disinfectant.
Wallace & Tiernan chlorinators operate to the all-vacuum
principle, this means there is vacuum from the cylinder
up to the injector.
The full vacuum gas feeder V10k and the other models can also be used
for metering carbon dioxide (CO2) for lowering the pH
and for hardwater conditions of potable water. The full vacuum gas feeders are also suitable for sulphur dioxide (SO2) for dechlorination applications and for ammonia (NH3). The gas feed system V10k is designed for capacities up to 15 kg/h of chlorine gas and the gas feed system S10k comprising of a vacuum regulator, a gas control unit and an injector for capacities up to 10 kg/h.
For higher capacities the chlorinators V-2020 (up to 60 kg/h) and V-2030 (up to 200 kg/h) are available, thus covering any capacity to meet any requirement.
For capacities above 60 kg/h Cl2 a liquid chlorine
evaporator (E 2000) should be used.
The worldwide proven
Wallace & Tiernan V-notch gas flow control technology
provides a wide range and very high repeatability. Control
of the gas feed rate can be manual or automatic via
an electric positioner.
As optional accessories automatic chlorine cylinder
change-over units in various capacities are available.
By switching over from empty to full chlorine containers
an uninterrupted gas supply is provided.
