Chlorine gas and UV disinfection units are the main methods
used to disinfect swimming pool and bath water. To this
purpose Siemens Water Technologies supplies suitable process
equipment:
Dosing of chlorine
is one of the simplest methods of disinfecting water.
To prevent the necessity of handling chlorine gas cylinders,
an alternative was found for swimming pool water treatment.
Sodium hypochlorite is now generally preferred for use
in large pools.
The OSEC®-NXT system is especially suitable for on-site preparation of an effective sodium hypochlorite solution. The system is based on a process developed
especially to this purpose. In addition the Wallace &
Tiernan® range also features the following OSEC® systems:
Membrane-free tubular cell electrolysis: OSEC®-B
Membrane-free tubular cell electrolysis of sea water:
OSEC®-S
Electrolysis system for smaller capacities: OSEC®-A
The designation OSEC® indicates all Wallace & Tiernan® chlorine electrolysis systems.
If no chemicals are to be used, UV
radiation is the alternative disinfection method. In swimming pools UV systems are also applied for the reduction of combined chlorine and therefore required fresh water fill-up is reduced.
Therefore the UV system Barrier® M makes part of the EWO Pool concept. Apart of Barrier® M the pool management system DEPOLOX®Pool and the energy saving concept ECON Pool and the sludge water recycling system UFOX 10 are further elements of these concept. With UFOX 10 Siemens Water Technologies now joins the membrane filtration technology which is getting more and more important for water treatment and disinfection.
