Protection of our Waters
In accordance with Article 1.a of the law governing water
management (Water Management Act) our waters are part
of the nature and have to be safeguarded as living space
for animals and plants.
They have to be treated in such a way that they serve
public and private welfare and that their ecological
function is not impaired.
Everybody is obliged to exercise due diligence when
measures affecting water are taken, to prevent pollution
or any other adverse change of its properties.
Any use of public water is subject to official permission.
Directives relating to Waste Water Discharge
Any permit for the discharge of waster water may only
be granted if its load of pollutants is kept as low
as possible, in line with the latest applicable technology.
§7a, Water Management Act
These directives dictate the mechanical, biological
and chemical waste water treatment.
The treatment of waste water implies the metering of
a range of chemicals for neutralisation, phosphate removal,
sludge conditioning, etc.
